HPE End of Service Life (EOSL)

Which HPE Support Products Are Soon To Hit Their EOSL?

Californian corporation HPE, known in full as Hewlett Packard Enterprise, is a specialist in server, storage, networking, and containerization software company with a multi-billion-dollar annual revenue. HPE is a business specifically focused on data center solutions and was split from the former Hewlett Packard Inc for this purpose. Spotlighting on enterprise services, HPE’s products are used by a variety of big businesses across the globe and are ranked at an impressive 107 in the Fortune 500 list of US corporations by total revenue.

What does “EOSL” mean for HPE products?

The End of Service life stipulated by HPE is the point at which they, the manufacturer of the equipment, withdraw their service support and management and instead suggest the replacement of it by a newer product that is covered by a warranty and/or service agreement. In most cases, the hardware will continue to function well past this date and still provide adequate performance levels for businesses, but HPE is unable to assign staff and resources to the maintenance of them as they instead look to focus on newer products.

Are HP products the same as HPE products?

HP products are still in wide circulation but are rarely still aided by HPE support agreements. However, HP datacentre products can still be supported by providers of third-party maintenance services; such as Procurri, who have engineers specializing in both HP and HPE solutions.

Which hardware will see its HPE support withdrawn in 2022?

As HPE expands its data center ranges with a myriad of new products, a variety of existing solutions will reach their EOSL dates from2022 to 2026. The first is the 3PAR StoreServ 7000 in October 2022, followed by the 3PAR StoreServ 20800, 3PAR StoreServ 20840, and 3PAR StoreServ 20850 in summer 2023.

A few years later in 2026, the 3PAR StoreServ 8000, 3PAR StoreServ 8200, 3PAR StoreServ 8400, 3PAR StoreServ 8440, and 3PAR StoreServ 8450 will reach their EOSL date in August.

If a business has hardware for which its HPE support is about to withdraw, what are their next steps?

Providing the HPE storage, server, and networking products are still working adequately, support can be switched from OEM service agreements to Procurri’s third-party maintenance contracts – no matter how far past the EOSL the hardware is. Procurri offers both remote and on-site support services from expert engineers who can service even the most legacy and unusual combinations of equipment! Continuing the usage of existing hardware allows businesses to “sweat” their assets to gain as much value from them as possible without compromising on service standards for end-users. What’s more, when the time does come to recycle and replace the equipment, Procurri can manage this too; with a whole host of ITAD options available.
